Our Story

For more than six decades, a legendary tradition has called to the finest equestrians across Georgia and North Florida. Each year, riders from near and far come together with one shared goal: to step into the arena, showcase their talent and passion, and compete for the coveted title of State Champion.

In 2027, we proudly celebrate the 61st Annual State Show—another milestone in a tradition built on dedication, sportsmanship, and an unwavering love for the horse.

Our story began in 1967, when the very first State Show brought communities together in local, grassroots arenas across Georgia—from Lavonia and Americus to Waycross and Warner Robins. In those early years, host clubs proudly opened their home arenas, laying the groundwork for a tradition that would continue to grow with every passing decade.

As the competition grew, so did its reach. From 1984 through 1989, the excitement moved to the Southeastern Arena in Unadilla, including a memorable show hosted by Deep Dixie. From 1990 through 1992, Hawkinsville became the backdrop for the State Show before, in 1993, Georgia Mountain ushered in a new chapter as the event made its debut at the iconic facility in Perry.

Now, 61 years after that first show, the tradition continues. The arena lights still shine bright, the competition remains fierce, and the dream of earning the title of State Champion continues to inspire riders of every generation.

Sixty-one years. Countless memories. One incredible tradition.

Join us for the 61st Annual State Show in 2027 as we celebrate the riders, horses, families, clubs, and communities that have helped make this event what it is today. Come be part of the excitement, cheer on your favorite riders, and witness another chapter of State Show history unfold in the arena.

Here’s to 61 years of grit, grace, tradition, and greatness—and to the next generation of riders ready to make history!
