IMPORTANT
As every Association starts their new season - please be aware of the current year changes.
The Age Rule
Federation rules state the class you are eligible to participate in is based on your age as of January 1, of the current state show year. If the state show date is September 2023, then the age is based off January 1 2023. Even if you show in October 2022, if the points are for the 2023 state show then you must ride in the age division based on your age on January 1, 2023.
Example:
State show to be held September 2023
Youth rider Julie will be 13 on January 2nd 2023
Julie must ride in the 12 and Under class at State because she was 12 on January 1st 2023

Sharing Horses
Federation rules state a horse may not be shown in the same event as defined in the rule books in different age divisions outside of immediate family members.
Example of when you can share outside of immediate family:
John is showing his horse in Horsemanship 20 and Over and his friend Melissa is showing the same horse in Western Pleasure 13-19.
Example of when you cannot share outside of immediate family:
Justin has entered Men's Poles 20-42 and then let his friend Jim ride the same horse in Men's Poles 43 and over - now they are both disqualified.
